Maguindanao Pearls: Reflective Essay

 The story Maguindanao Pearls tells us about a beautiful woman who was wrongly accused of stealing. She was put into trial and died by the hands of her very own father. In result, Lakambini, who was the real perpetrator regretted her actions. Maguindanao Pearls showed us how cruel a person can be because of jealousy and Lakambini who was the victim of jealousy, ended up regretting her acts. Aside from showing us how dangerous jealousy is, it also mentions of several events that are related to history. The story mentioned of pearl necklaces which was believed to make a woman beautiful.   Gender equality is a right every women have been fighting for. It's because women have fewer rights than men and unfair treatment from the public or society. As time progresses, more sexualities have been discovered and have been open with it. It's not a bad thing to be open with your sexuality, in fact, it feels like a burden has been lifted off of your shoulders since you don't have to hide it anymore. Many people get harassed because of their gender or sexuality, some get depressed because they feel like an alien among their peers and it is because some people are not educated about this. Every community or person should make a queer person feel comfortable, safe and protected. That also applies to women, who fear going out at night or be conscious of their clothing because of obvious reasons. These individuals or everyone should feel safe at schools, malls, houses, communities and places that has many people. It's best that kids must learn to treat others equally
